Eleanora Marie (Gilbert) O'Donnell

Eleanora Marie O’Donnell 92, of Carroll County, Md. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Born December 31, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and Irma Gilbert. Eleanora was predeceased by her husband, Raymond C. O’Donnell, in 1997, and her friend and companion of recent years, Walter Kemetick, in 2013. Survivors include: her son-in-law, Roger Trent, her daughter Patricia L. Baumgardner and husband Ralph of Westminster, MD., daughter Mary Ellen Henning and husband John of Paisley, FL., her brother Frank Gilbert and wife Joyce of Parkville, MD., four grandchildren; Dawn Gold, Ralph Baumgardner, III, Leo Dezes, Katie Dezes, and 2 great-grandchildren, Logan and Reagan Gold, and her faithful pet cat of 14 years, Odie O’Donnell. She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Trent, her sisters Cornelia Pospisil, Laura Hayes, Irma Gilbert, Clarice McShane and her brother, George Gilbert. Eleanora was active in numerous organizations including the Women’s VFW Auxiliary Post 8296 of which she was a past president, member of the OC Elks Lodge 2645, OC Lion’s Club and Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md. “Ellie” loved music, singing, and dancing. She won numerous trophies for ballroom dancing at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and in her youth, considered singing professionally. The interment will be at a later date at the Baltimore National Cemetery with a celebration of life ceremony.
