Willis E. Drummond, Jr., 98, of Sykesville, MD, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023 at Carroll Hospital Center; loving husband of the late Charlotte Helene Hipsley for 62 years; beloved son of the late Willis E. Drummond, Sr. and Alice Bittle; he is survived by children Stephen Drummond and wife Constance, Patricia Grimm and husband David, Joanne Fraser and husband Walter, Mara Drummond, Suzanne Eckert and husband William, and daughter-in-law Tricia Flannagan; he is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister Byrd Keiter.
Besides being a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Will was an avid reader, loved to play cards and shoot pool; was the trips coordinator for the Fairhaven Residents Association; and model train enthusiast. Will served in the Army Air Force as a Private First-Class during WWII from October, 1943 to April, 1946. He cherished his faith and worked three jobs to send his five children to 12 years of parochial school. He was an avid member of the St. Agnes Men’s Club, Holy Family Knights of Columbus, and devoted usher at the Fairhaven Chapel.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will be in Druid Ridge Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends and acquaintances on Monday, September 25th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Jeffrey N.
