Steven Howard Kimball, 62, of Bear Delaware, formerly of Sykesville, passed peacefully Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his home following a long illness. Born March 15, 1962, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Robert E. Kimball, Jr. and Marion Helbig Kimball. He was the devoted husband of Cynthia L.W. Kimball. They had been married for over 20 years. Steven was a retired Art Director. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1980-1990 as a photojournalist aboard the USS Nimitz and in the Public Affairs office at the US Naval Academy. He enjoyed The Maryland Renaissance Fair, where he would be seen to portray “The Black Fox”, Danny Kayes’ character in the movie “The Court Jester”. As a graphic artist he created a subscription magazine that focused on the pirate culture called “The Pyrates Way”, he was passionate about anything superhero including but not limited to Marvel and DC Comic characters. Any of the Star Trek or Star Wars movies would often be his choice to “fill the air” while creating his artwork. In addition to his wife Cynthia, Steven is survived by son Alex Paul Kimball, daughter Kyra Diana Kimball Wilhelm, brother Robert (Bob) Paul Kimball, brother Thomas Richard Kimball and four grandchildren. Steven is also survived by stepsister Christine Wise Kimball and stepmother Suzanne Kimball. Visitation will be held at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home 6028 Sykesville Road in Eldersburg, MD on Saturday, March 1 from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm. Graveside services will be private with military honors.
