Obituary

Shirley Mary Appler, 87, of Westminster, died Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the BridgingLife Dove House surrounded by her loving daughters. Born August 16, 1935 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Kues) Stevens. She was the wife of the late William Edward ‘Bill’ Appler who died November 21, 2019. They had been married for 64 years. Shirley had retired from Northrup Grumman after 26 years of service working in defense communication. She graduated from Patterson Park High School where she competed in tennis and fencing. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music and going to the beach. She is survived by daughters Susan Appler de los Rios and her husband Daniel, Laura Appler son Russell Appler, grandchildren Christine Ryan, Erin Acampa & Joshua, Evan Hewitt, Brittany Appler, Kari Unglesbee & Alex, great grandson Jameson Acampa and cousin Leroy Kues & Sandra. She was preceded in death by brother Russell Stevens and nephew Robert Stevens Viewing, services and interment will be private. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg Maryland are assisting the family with funeral plans.
