Shankar Kalothia, 85, of Maryland, formerly of Michigan, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026 of a heart attack with his daughter Seema and son-in-law Robert Hammaker being with him.

Born in India, he was the son of the late Ishwar Das Kalothia and Godawari Devi Tibrewal Kalothia. He was the husband of the late Kusum Kalothia who died in January 2022.

Shankar was a mechanical engineer for the Sandvik Tool Company. He was very gifted in the field of engineering as he was ranked first in his undergraduate college in India and obtained his engineering masters in the US. He also enjoyed reading health literature, attending Hindu temples and connecting with friends and relatives as much as possible. He cared for others greatly, since everyone knows him as always giving advice and teaching them all the healthy things he learned.

In addition to his daughter and son-in-law, Shankar is survived by sister Ganga Devi, brother Nathu Kalothia, grandsons Keith Anand and Kevin Akash Hammaker, and Ram Kalothia.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, 1:30 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland. Interment will be private.
