Paul Joseph Donovan

Paul Joseph Donovan, 80, of Columbia, MD, died at the Carroll Hospital Center on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Born March 8, 1944, in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marianne Donovan. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Vandegrift Donovan, whom he had been married to for 57 years. Paul was an attorney for over 40 years. He was a well-known and respected baseball coach in Howard County and was inducted as a member of the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. Paul was involved in recreation, travel, showcase, and high school baseball teams. He was one of the co-founders and coaches of the Columbia Reds baseball team from 1987-2012 and later coached with FTB Travel Baseball. He also coached baseball at Howard High School and Atholton High School. In addition to his wife Jackie, Paul is survived by son Matthew and his wife Christy Donovan, a daughter Andrea Souder and her husband Todd Souder, sister Gail Donovan, grandsons Brady, Logan, and Ryan Donovan, grandson Tate and granddaughter Ashlyn Souder. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, 2:00 PM at The Shrine of St. Anthony, 12300 Folly Quarter Road Ellicott City, MD 21042. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland.
