Paul Enoch Brashears, 92, of Greenwood, DE and formerly of Sykesville, MD died peacefully Monday, November 15, 2021, surrounded by his family, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. Born October 27, 1929 in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Irene E. Brashears. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 73 years, Nellie M. (Uppercue) Brashears and his beloved sister Eileen Teague and her husband Bob of Westminster, MD. Paul was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Centofanti, and brothers Arnold and David Brashears. He held several positions in the C&P and Bell Atlantic telephone companies and retired after 30 years of service. He was a past president of the Eldersburg Optimist Club and active in the Baltimore Bottle Club. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He could fix anything and he loved gardening, old cars and watching the many beautiful birds that lived in his backyard birdhouses. He was especially devoted to his family and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Nancy Eshenbaugh of Greenwood, DE, son Mark Brashears and daughter-in-law Jonni (Chase) Brashears of Dagsboro, DE, son Matthew Brashears of Greenwood, DE, and daughter Janet Kreft and son-in-law Stephen Kreft of Hampstead, MD. Paul was a beloved grandfather to Derrick Eshenbaugh, Melanie Eshenbaugh, Justin Eshenbaugh, Jaclyn Kreft, Lauren Eshenbaugh and Tyler Kreft. Paul was also a loving great-grandfather to 8 great-grandchildren and an uncle to several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 18th, from 3-5 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, 16 Market Street, Greenwood, DE 19950. Friends will also be received on Friday, November 19th, from 2-5 p.m. at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oakland United Methodist Church, 5901 Mineral Hill Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. Interment will follow at the Lake View Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
