Nellie Marie Brashears

Nellie Marie Brashears, 93, of Greenwood, DE and formerly of Sykesville, MD died peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Delmar, Delaware. Born February 21, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Elva V. (White) Uppercue. Nellie was predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years, Paul E. Brashears. She was a graduate of Seton High School and her last place of employment was in the Accounts Payable Department at London Fog in Eldersburg, Maryland. Nellie and Paul enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales and antique shops and loved their many collectibles. She and Paul bought and sold many collectible items and made long-term friends while traveling through Maryland and Delaware to find treasures. Nellie was especially devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Nancy Eshenbaugh of Greenwood, DE, son Mark Brashears and daughter-in-law Jonni (Chase) Brashears of Dagsboro, DE, son Matthew Brashears of Greenwood, DE, and daughter Janet Kreft and son-in-law Stephen Kreft of Hampstead, MD. Nellie was a beloved grandmother to Derrick Eshenbaugh, Melanie Eshenbaugh, Justin Eshenbaugh, Jaclyn (Kreft) Witte, Lauren Eshenbaugh and Tyler Kreft. She was also a loving great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren and an aunt to several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12th, from 2-4 p.m. at the Frampton Funeral Home, 16 Market Street, Greenwood, Delaware 19950.. Friends will also be received on Friday, September 13th, from 2-5 p.m. at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 14th, at 11 a.m. at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Memorial Park, 2724 Liberty Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.
