Myrtle Lea Carmine, 91, of Westminster died Monday, April 25, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters and a granddaughter.
Born February 13, 1931 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James Wesley and Mamie Jones Bittner. She was the wife of the late Paul Warren Carmine who died February 25, 2020. They had been married for almost 70 years.
Myrtle had been an activities director for a local nursing home. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and crocheting. She was the last of her immediate family and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Community.
Myrtle is survived by son and daughter-in-law James Joseph Carmine and Carla, daughters and sons-in-law Mary Catherine Shankel and Bruce, Deborah Ann Westerman and her late husband Stephen, Cynthia Lea Escobar and Francis, Jeanne Marie Gladfelter and Todd, Sandra Elaine Burdette and Paul, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD with the Rev. Fr. John Worgul officiating. Entombment will take place on Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. In lieu of flowers sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, BridgingLife Hospice, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one’s choice.
