Originally from the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late Arthur, Rose Boiman. Marilyn loved travel, politics and supported social justice initiatives. Marilyn was drawn to Columbia in the late 60’s by the community promise of economic, religious and racial diversity. Survived by her sister Bea Levin, her loving girls Randi Jenkins, Debbie Nix (Barry), Sue Smith, stepdaughter Cynthia and her children Elizabeth, John and Joan, granddaughter Ava, Bob’s sons Gregory and Matt; and grandson Andrew Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Barnes, brother Harold and grandson David Nix. A service will be held at Kahler Hall, Old Tucker Row, Columbia, MD 21044, on December 26 from 1-3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Ecology Institute, 8000 Harriet Tubman Lane, Columbia, MD 21044.
