Joseph Vincent Wisniewski, 85, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Carroll Hospital Center.
Born February 26, 1939 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Elizabeth Popieski Wisniewski. He was the loving husband of Fran Wisniewski. They had been married for 59 years.
Joe retired from the Social Security Administration where he had been a systems analyst. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1960-1962. He was a long-time member of the Freedom District Lions Club. He joined the club on October 1, 1979. He was made a lifetime Lion in 2019. He served as Club President three times 1984-1985, 1985-1986, and 2015-2016. He received a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 1994, a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2013, a Knights of the Blind Pyramid, a District Governors Medal of Commendation, and in 2014 his name was added To the District 22-W Honor Roll. He was a member of ATEAZE Bike Club and enjoyed bicycle riding nationally and internationally. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking care of his yard.
In addition to his wife Fran, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law Beth and John Galik, granddaughter Emily Galik and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home 6028 Sykesville Road in Eldersburg on Monday, February 10 from 2:30-4:30 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens.
