Born August 1, 1950 in Arlington, Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Dennette and Maruita Carolyn Henkel Bontz. He was the loving husband of Pattie Bontz. They had been married for 32 years. Joe was in sales with Ward Trucking Company for over 20 years. He attended Catonsville Community College and earned an Associate Arts Degree. He loved music and played lead guitar in many bands including Cruise, The Cruisers and String Theory. He enjoyed playing golf, collecting clocks and art work, driving his 1970 Monte Carlo and spending time with his friends, family and Tully. In addition to his wife Pattie, Joe is survived by daughters Azure Sellers, Mary Laura Bontz and her fiancé Tony Donovan, nephew Jon Hutslar, brother George Bontz and wife Diane, and grandchildren Quint and Henry Sellers, Dylan Shortt and Isley Donovan, and many loved nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 22, 2021, 4:00PM, at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM and 3-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
