John A. Wheatley Obituary

John A. Wheatley, 80, 0f Sykesville, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his home from an extended illness.
   Born March 1, 1934 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Amos L. and Greta Singhass Wheatley, Sr. he was the husband of Betty A. Wheatley. They had been married for 59 years.
   He was a U. S. Army veteran. He had worked as a warehouseman for ACME. He had also worked in the insurance business for 13 years. He enjoyed playing cards, working around the family home, watching the Baltimore Ravens and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
   In addition to his wife he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Fred E. Wheatley and Linda, Mark A. Wheatley and Kathy, John E. ‘Rick’ Wheatley and companion Linda Hans, sister Mary Higdon, grandchildren Thomas Stevens, Lauren, Nicholas, Taylor, Samantha, Olivia and Chase  Wheatley. He is also survived by great granddaughter Breanna Stevens. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
   The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Md. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5600 Old Washington Road, Sykesville, MD with his pastor, Rev. Michael Dubsky, officiating. Interment will follow in Lorraine Park Cemetery. Sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to Gilchrist Hospice Care,
