John Rey Thomas

John Rey "JT" Thomas, age 81 of Finksburg, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at his home. Born October 13, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Herbert A. and Corinne Theresa (nee Rey). He was the husband of the late Laura Covey Thomas. He is survived by his daughter, Juanita Rey Thomas Popien and husband Victor, granddaughter Victoria Rey Thompson (Joshua), great-grandchildren, Hunter Rey, Trinity, Amelia and Ethan, his brothers Les Kaufman and wife Pam, Ron Kaufman and wife Sandy, several nieces, nephews and cousins. John worked as an engineer in the wastewater treatment plant at Black & Decker in Hampstead, Howard County Government, and Retired from Ft. Meade. After retirement JT spent every morning at the McDonald's or the Burger King in Eldersburg. He was the past master of Freedom Lodge #112 AF & AM and a member for over 50 years, a member of the Carroll York Rite and Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He loved riding horses, taking care of the animals and mowing grass. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 26, from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD where a funeral service will be held Thursday, 11:00am with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating.
