John Royston Rash, 95, of Finksburg, died Friday, May 23, 2025 at Lorien Mt. Airy surrounded by family members. Born January 4, 1930 in Woodbine, Maryland, he was the son of the late Curtis E. and Alice Bossom Rash. He was the devoted husband of the late Thelma Lee Walker Rash who died February 11, 2014. They were married for 63 years. John had retired from the U.S. Government as a cryptologist. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, a 50 year member of Ionic Masonic Lodge A.F. & A. M.,Boumi Temple, NEVA Navy Cryptology Veterans Association and a 70 year member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed going to the beach with family and loved ones, visiting with neighbors, and working on his farm. He is survived by sons John Steven Rash, Galen Keith Rash(Ramona), Craig Timothy Rash (Waeodao),siblings Glenn and Claude Rash, Esther Mercer, seven grandchildren, four great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Ivan and Edwin Rash. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800, Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, Maryland with military honors. The family will receive visitors Thursday May 29, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland.
