Jerold ‘Jerry’ Arthur Howsden, 87, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Spiritrust Lutheran Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 15, 1937 in Nebraska, he was the son of the late Arthur and Erma Kersey Howsden. He was the devoted husband of Ruth Wampler Howsden. They had been married for 32 years. Jerry had been an accountant for a defense contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce for twelve years and a retired member of the Naval Reserve. He had an MBA from Troy State University. He was a member of the Freedom District Lions Club for many years. Upon moving to Hanover, he then joined the Taneytown Lion Club. He enjoyed making stained glass art. In addition to his wife Ruth, Jerry is survived by daughters Sandra Ann Riddle and her husband Joseph, Carolyne Cornett, sons David A. Howsden and his wife Mary Beth, Kenneth D. Cornett and his wife Lori, siblings Joy, Donald and Judy Howsden, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings Merle, Melvin, Richard, Mary and Patricia. Memorial services will be held at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg on Thursday, November 13 at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends from 1-3PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
