410-795-2299, FAX 410-795-5393 James “Jim” Stromberg, 72, of Maryland/Delaware, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at BridgingLife Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 20, 1952, in Baltimore, Jim was the son of the late James and Flossie Deel Stromberg. Jim led a varied and fulfilling career, dedicating himself to several professions over the years, including as a postal worker, realtor, travel agent, and in radon detection. Despite the different paths his career took, Jim’s true passion lay in the people he met along the way and the life he built with them. Jim was a man of many interests and lived his life with joy and enthusiasm. He had a deep love for music, and whether playing the keyboard or simply listening to his favorite tunes, music was a constant source of happiness. He also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors—whether it was fishing by the ocean or soaking up the sun on the beach. Jim had a fondness for island vacations, and over the years, he could often be found enjoying a round of putt-putt golf, or indulging in one of his favorite treats at Seacrets or Dairy Queen. In his younger days, Jim was an avid fan of the TV series Dallas, which he swore was the best show ever, though he later admitted that Yellowstone had earned a special place in his heart. One of his greatest joys was riding his bike along the Ocean City boardwalk, a spot he always seemed to find new people to connect with. Jim was also a proud participant in the Ocean City car shows, where he loved driving his classic 1966 Mustang down the boardwalk in the parade—a car he held dear, and one that mirrored his pride in the life he had built. When it came to food, Jim was a true enthusiast. His legendary crab feasts, where friends and family would gather around a table for hours, were a cherished tradition. To eat crabs with Jim was to experience more than a meal—it was an afternoon of laughter, stories, and a true celebration of life. Above all, Jim treasured the time spent with his family and friends. His children, grandchildren, and siblings were his heart. He is survived by his children: Michael Stromberg and wife Gina, Kristina Gillis and husband Brian, and Kelly Wickesser and husband Craig; his grandchildren: Mikey Stromberg, Brennan Gillis, Brooke Stromberg, Rylan Wickesser, Chloe Wickesser, and Graham Wickesser; and his siblings: Margie Campbell, Bernie Manonne, Anne Dwyer, Cathy Clark, and Johnny Stromberg. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Stromberg. A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Monastery (3801 Old Frederick Rd., Baltimore, MD 21229) on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Interment will be private. In honor of Jim’s legacy, his family asks that you take a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures of life—whether that’s playing a favorite song, savoring a meal with loved ones, or basking in the warmth of a sunny day. Jim lived his life with joy and pride, and his memory will continue to bring light to all who knew him.
