Gene Thomas Voight, Sr.

Gene Thomas Voight, Sr., 93, of Mt. Airy, died Thursday, August 2, 2021 at Lorien of Mt. Airy. Born September 28, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland, was the son of the late Jesse and Katherine Hearl Voight. Twice married he was the husband of the late Claudette Hastings Voight (Bray) who died October 4, 1997 and the late Jane Eckels Voight who died on April 30, 2020. Gene had been a printer for direct mail advertising. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran from 1948-1952. He was a member of American Legion Post #122 in Owings Mills, VFW Post #521also in Owings Mills and the Randallstown Optimist. He is survived by sons Gene T. Voight, Jr. and his wife Sandra, Robert L. Voight and his wife Julie, Russell W. Voight and his wife Dawn and daughter Sue Smith and her husband David, W. Scott Eckels and Timothy T. Eckels, Sr. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandson Timothy T. Eckels, Jr. He was the last of his immediate family. Graveside services will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home & Monument Company, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland.
