Edward W. Krebs, 93, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.
Born November 23, 1921 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Henry and Ella Swan Krebs. He was the husband of the late Helen Krebs who died September 24, 2002. They had been married for 60 years.
He had retired from C&P Telephone after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II. He had received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Italy in 1944. He and his late wife enjoyed camping and were past members of the Baltimore County Campers Association. He was the last of his immediate family.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Robert E. and Deborah Krebs, William and Melody Krebs, grandchildren and their spouses Daniel and Jessica Krebs, Amy and Chris Whited, Julie and Daniel Hansen and Laura and Tim Jackman. He is also survived by great grandchildren Gabriel and Griffin Whited, Luke and Dillon Hansen and Kendall and Emma Jackman. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Khandjian, officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park with military honors.
