It is with great sadness that the family of Edmund A “Joe” Jenkins, announces his passing on May 17, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Born December 15, 1935, in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles and Virginia Kiger Jenkins. He was the devoted husband for over 62 years to Ellen Riggins Jenkins. He is survived by sons Jeffrey Jenkins, Sr. (Yvette), Jonathan Jenkins (Leslie) and daughter Jennifer Hession (Keith). He is also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey Jenkins, Jr. (Poppy), Jordan Jenkins (Kylie Regan), and Amanda Jenkins.
Joe attended Fairmont Senior High School and was a proud “Polar Bear”. He graduated from Fairmont State College with a BS in Business Administration. Following college, he proudly served his country for 6 years in the United States Army. He was honored as an Outstanding Alumni by Fairmont State College in 1999. During his lifetime he continued to support and serve his Alma mater as Alumni President.
His career path led him to the Baltimore area. He worked for Montgomery Ward, GEM International, and Mobil Oil Corporation. He retired from Mobil Oil Corporation after 34 years in 1998, working in several sales management positions, ending his career as the National Diversity and Inclusion Manager.
In his retirement he enjoyed traveling, gardening, antiquing, woodworking, and especially his antique car clubs. Joe will be remembered for his unique sense-of-humor, passion for sweets, and a love of animals - particularly pugs.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Pisgah Church Cemetery, 2718 Smithtown Road, Morgantown, West Virginia 26508 at 12 noon. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
