Donald ‘Don’ Lee Van Cleve, 82, of Eldersburg, died Friday, October 11, 2024 at Copper Ridge Rehab in Sykesville. Born January 13, 1942 in the District of Columbia, he was the son of the late Walter and Evelyn Bohac Van Cleve. He was the devoted husband of Sandra B. Van Cleve. They had been married for over 40 years. Don was a U.S. Marine reserves veteran in the early 1960s. He had retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a real estate agent finding properties for new post offices. After retirement, he became a residential real estate agent in the South Carroll area. He was a long-time member of the Freedom District Lions Club serving in many different offices. As an active member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, he was involved in Stephen Ministries and United Methodist Men’s Group, as well as a founding member of the church’s Feed My Sheep ministry. In addition to his wife Sandra, Don is survived by sons Walter Scott Van Cleve and Sean Van Cleve and wife Beth-Ann, stepsons John Etter and wife Tammy, Bill Etter and wife Laura, granddaughters Freya Van Cleve and Mae Etter, and grandsons Jacob Etter and Luke Etter. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on October 26 at 2:00 PM at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
