Delbert Gene Johnson, 79, of Westminster died Sunday, December 6, 2021 at his home. Born July 16, 1942 in Atwood, Kansas, he was the son of the late Harry and Gloria Allen Johnson and the stepson of the late Virginia Johnson. He was the husband of the late Bonnie Lynn Johnson (nee Sturdivant) who died December 17, 2021. They had been married since 1983. He had retired from the Baltimore County Police Department after 33 years of service. He retired as a sergeant. He mainly worked in the Wilkens District. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam war. He was also a member of the National Guard. He also owned Johnson Construction for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing Everquest on his computer. He also loved his cats Boots and Slim and his Dog PJ. In addition to his wife Bonnie, Delbert is survived by daughters Jeanette Steinbach, Wanda Johnson and Kathy Lowe, brothers Harry Johnson, Jr. and David Johnson. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by son Michael Johnson. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 Noon. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
