David Alan Heidelberger, 75, of Finksburg, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his home.
Born September 18, 1938, in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Steven and Ollie Mae Bell
Heidelberger. He was the husband of Karen J. Heidelberger. They had been married for thirty years.
A retired master diesel mechanic, David was also a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and early Vietnam Conflict. He had a degree in electronics. Among his hobbies were fishing and training his Labrador, Titan. He also enjoyed NASCAR, football, country music and watching western movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Glynn Heidelberger, Alan Heidelberger and his wife Ruth, Beau Lynd and his wife Rachel, daughter Jessica Lynd and her husband Dante Barros Carrillo, sisters Myrtle Higgins, Dorothy Heidelberger-Carpenter and her husband Bill, brother-in-law Mike Rathbun, niece Brittany Rathbun, ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by brothers Steve and Roy Heidelberger. David was a blessed man who touched the lives of many. All who knew him held him dear.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 10-12 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday at the funeral home. Internment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery in Smallwood.
