Danny Ray Atwell

Danny Ray Atwell, 77, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Bridging Life Dove House surrounded by his loving children.

   Born November 1, 1946 in Marion, Virginia, he was son of the late George and Catherine Cullop Atwell. He was the devoted husband of the late of Dana Sayers Atwell who died January 15, 2022. They had been married for 29 years.

   Danny was a carpenter by trade and had owned his own construction business named Atwell Construction. Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed gardening, listening to music and baseball (when the O’s were winning) out at the picnic table, and taking his family/friends out for a nice dinner.

   Danny is survived by daughter Samantha Nicole Atwell and son Ryan Michael Atwell, sister Judy Ledford, brothers Michael and Mickey Atwell and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Sue Mariner, George (Silver) Atwell and Ronald Atwell.

   Funeral services will be private. There will be no public visitation. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
