Dale Sherman Bennett, 84, of Eldersburg, died at the Carroll Hospital Center on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 18, 1939 in Lake Worth, Florida, he was the son of the late Sherman Elwood Bennett and Ann Joy Senior Bennett. Dale was the husband of Susan Elizabeth Bennett, They had been married for 57 years. Dale had retired from NSA after a 40-year career. He was devoted to his country and had served in the US Navy, US Marines and twice in the US Army. He enjoyed shooting pool, freshwater fishing and hunting. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Sykesville. In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by son Eric Dale Bennett and wife Debbie, daughters Lisa Lynn Bennett and longtime partner Matthew Fiore, and Brandi Marie Smith and husband Victor, grandchildren Sarah Blicharz and husband Karol, Julie and Brittney Bennett, Amber Miller and husband Chase, Gary Jones and wife Emily, Amanda Wolfe and husband Phillip, six great grandchildren and one grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by siblings Terry Bennett and Maureen Ann Harney. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7538 Main Street, Sykesville, MD 21784 with his pastor, the Rev. Chris Guyer, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
