Charles Joseph Bures, 85, of Finksburg, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 1, 2021, with his wife of 35 years by his side.
Born December 16, 1935, in Rosedale, Maryland, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Bertha (Kipp) Bures Sr., beloved husband of Angela Read Bures, devoted father to Beverly Bures, loving brother to his identical twin George Bures (Patricia), and brother Joseph Bures (Terry), caring grandfather to Nicole Coffman-Stitz and Kyle Bures, great-grandchildren Madison, Marabee and Everett, and dear brother-in-law to Charlotte, Jack and Richard Cowan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Anthony J. Bures Jr.
Charles enlisted and served in the United States Army and Army Reserves for several years. He worked most of his career for the State of Maryland in the Health and Mental Hygiene Department as the Director of Data Processing.
After moving to Carroll County, Charles enjoyed his working around his hobby farm, on which he designed and built a two-story bank barn. He also enjoyed being active in the 4H Sheep club for many years. As a devoted father, Charles bought his daughter her very first pony, introducing her to a lifelong love of horses.
After retiring, Charles occupied his time in his woodworking shop building, making or fixing things for family and friends. He was a talented handyman and could be called upon to fix just about anything around the house.
Charles enjoyed traveling, camping with his wife and best friend Pat, playing the organ, photography, watching football (especially the Army/Navy game) and spending time laughing and joking with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services and interment will be private.
