Brenda Svehla Obituary

Brenda Alena Svehla, nee Morrison, of Ellicott City, died April 22, 2022. Born November 10, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Ruth Morrison. She was the wife of the late Robert Svehla who died January 19, 2021. They were married May 10, 1975 and had been married for 46 years. Brenda was a graduate of the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick and was employed as a key-punch operator at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. After marriage, she was a homemaker and childcare provider for her grandchildren. She cherished time with her family and enjoyed monthly canasta dates with her friends, watching the Orioles and the Ravens, and eating her favorite Chick-fil-A. She was a member and long-time president of the deaf women’s club Silent Clover Society. Brenda is survived by her children Preston Ashley, Jr., Jodi Ihasz, Krisha McKee and Kara Esmond. She is also survived by grandchildren Samantha, Madeline, Olivia, Payton, Jake, Emma, Leah, Drew, Justice, Guian, and Audrey; her great-grandchildren Logan, Jackson, and Ada; and siblings Barbara, Butch, and Lenny. Visitation, services and interment will be private. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, located at 6028 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
