Beverly Jean Jamison Akers, 78, of Sykesville, Maryland, died Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Columbia, Maryland.
   Born June 10, 1935 in Clear Lake, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Mable Irene Stewart Jamison.
   She had retired as an assistant teacher in elementary education. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Nells Acres Mahjong Group and the Worthington / Bushy Park Dinner Clubs.
   She is survived by sons Brian Vasa-Akers and wife Birgit Vasa-Akers; Brent Ronald Akers and wife Paula Akers; Blake Ralph Akers; and Barry Lance Akers and wife Catherine Akers. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Jamison and is survived by her brother Keith Jamison. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren; Sebastian, Cassandra, Victoria, Kevin, Sean, Jared, Cameron, Abigail, Matthew, Madison and Jamison, who were her pride and joy.
   Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg.  The family will receive friends Monday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to JDRF (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund), Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter 1400 K Street, NW, Suite 725, Washington DC 20005.   Please include a note stating In Memory of Beverly Akers.   Online condolences may be offered at www.jnzumbrunfuneralhome.com.
