Amalia P. (Lopez) Lanuza

Amalia P. Lanuza, 95 of Olney, formerly of Silver Spring, died peacefully with her three daughters by her side on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at the Casey House in Rockville, Maryland. Born October 1, 1927 in Canovanas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Mariana Rodriguez Lopez. She was the loving wife of the late Ramon Lanuza, Jr. who died March 12, 2004. They had been married for over 60 years. Amalia had worked for the U.S. Government as a secretary in the Department of Federal Housing. She had lived many places due to the fact that her husband was in the U.S. Navy and had been transferred to various locales. She was very artistic and loved painting and crafts. She loved entertaining family and friends. She is survived by daughters Janice Brice and husband John, Jeanette Filderman and husband Barry, Janina Villafane, and son Jeffrey Lanuza. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who loved and cared for her. She was preceded in death by brothers Emilio and Luis Lopez.
