Alexander ‘Al’ Rentz, 88, of Sykesville, died Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the home of his daughter Shelley. Born January 24, 1937 in Odenton, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alexander Eadie, Jr. and the late Juanita Thomas. He was the husband of the late Nora M. Rentz who died July 19, 2019. They had been married for 59 years. Al was a retired electrician with Local 24. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He loved music, was a lap steel guitar player and a car enthusiast. Al is survived by daughters Shelley A. Ellis and husband James, Karen Pfaff and husband Kirk, son Douglas L. Rentz, grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Cole, Nick, Cody, Rebecca and Kristy and great grandchildren Waylon, Noah and Bella. Al was the oldest of five siblings and the last to pass away. He is also survived by his best friend of 56 years Howard Jacobs Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 AM at Bethany Cemetery, 4176 Hooper Road, New Windsor, Maryland with Deacon Joseph Cinquino officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, Maryland.
