Welcome to the memorial page for

Ron Shriver

April 10, 1937 ~ June 25, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old
Ron Shriver passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017 with his family by his side. Ron was a graduate of West Virginia University and Loyola University Maryland. Ron loved Jesus, his family, teaching, baseball, basketball, farming, the outdoors, chess, and thinking. After Ron's father dropped out of high school to support his family, he instilled in Ron a life-long respect for education and teachers. Ron continued to honor the values instilled in him by his father during his teaching career at Glenelg High School. In addition to teaching mathematics at Glenelg for 30 years, he also coached the chess team after discovering a love for the game as an adult. Ron was a frequent figure at all of his grandsons' baseball games, and he continued to develop and maintain his "hobby" farm until his death. All of his many passions live on through his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Ron is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Grace (Mullinix); his children, Brett and Emily; his brothers, Harold and Rikki; and his five wonderful grand children, Amber, Grant, Abby, Ryan, and Garrett. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Irma; and his brother, Rodney. The funeral service will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Rd, Eldersburg (410-795-2299). Internment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mariottsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Our kind and gentle Ron, husband, father, brother, grandpa and friend will be missed and remain forever in our hearts. "And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7.
