Richard P. Suess, 79, of Marriottsville, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at Carroll Dove House.
Born November 4, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Oscar and Eileen Harley Seuss. He was the husband of Barbara L. Suess. They had been married for 17 years.
Richard was Chief of Staff at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. He had worked there for over 40 years. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He also received his master’s degree from the University of Maryland. He was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed setting up displays and collecting model train and accessories. He also was in love with the city of Pittsburgh and their sports teams, especially the Pirates and Steelers. He also loved traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Richard P. Suess, Jr. and wife Debbie, Michael Suess and wife Lisa, Eric Suess, stepsons Gregory Cook and wife Melissa, Kevin Cook and wife Laura, sister Betty Kirchner and husband Bill, ten grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 16, 2018, 11:00, AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, MD. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to The Carroll Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, Maryland, 21157.
