Ralph W. 'Bud' Bell

Ralph R.W. ‘Bud’ Bell, 72, of Woodbine, died peacefully Monday, January 9, 2017 at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia after a long illness. Born December 19, 1944 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Walter and Evelyn Nott Bell. He attended the University of Maryland and worked for 30 years in law enforcement achieving the rank of captain. Bud was a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He also served in the U.S. Army. He attended Officer Candidate Training School at Fort Benning, Georgia and spent 3 years in the military police corps at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Bud was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. He was a member of the F.O.P. #23 in College Park, MD, Damascus American Legion Post # 171 and the Mt. Airy Saddle Pals. He is survived by his wife Linda Bell, daughter Mary Kate Farmer, step-son Shane Busic and grandchildren Chase Campbell, Kaitlyn Farmer and Austin Matheson. He was preceded in death by step-daughter Tiffany Busic and brother Robert Bell. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 11501 Mountain View Road, Damascus, MD 20872 with his pastor, Rev Myungha Baek, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 10:00 AM till time of service at the church. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD are handling funeral arrangements.
