Jay Lee McCamant

Jay Lee McCamant, 77, of Westminster, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born February 17, 1939 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John Graham and Dorothy Helen Jackson McCamant. He was the husband of Marilyn Jeanette McCamant. They had been married for over 54 years. Jay had retired as a manager from the Social Security Administration. He was a 20 year member of the Freedom District Lions Club. He served in many capacities in the club including the Chairperson for the Sight Conservation Committee. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest award to be given in the Lions Club. He was also awarded a pyramid by the Wilmer Eye Institute for his support of our club and the Lions Low Vision Center. He was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed having lunch at different restaurants. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Greg McCamant and wife Melanie, Tim McCamant and wife Lisa, sister Sue Smith, niece Marilyn Dlesk and grandchildren Ian, Grace, Jayson and Shaniah McCamant. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. There will be a memorial service conducted by the Freedom District Lions Club beginning at 7:30 PM on Friday. Funeral services and interment will be private.
