Charles Childress Obituary

Charles L. Childress “Chuck/Chilly”, age 78, of Ocean View, Delaware, formerly of Sykesville, died peacefully Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Chuck was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and was predeceased by his loving parents Virgie and Walter Childress and his brother Alonzo Childress. He was the devoted loving husband to Linda J. Childress for 42 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Denise Diana, Donna Sadowski and Nicole Sanchez, sons Brian, Scott and Randy Childress. He was also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom he adored. Chuck worked and retired from the Social Security Administration for 37 years as a computer programmer and also worked for Millennium Solutions, Inc. for 13 years following retirement from the Social Security Administration Chuck was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 30 years and volunteered by running the church’s sound system for 17 years. He currently was a member of St. Matthews by the Sea United Methodist Church in Fenwick Island, Delaware for the past 5 years. Besides spending time with his family, he was an avid fisherman and loved boating, camping and driving his Corvette. He was one of the original members of the Wet Five Rod and Reel Club, Inc. and also a member of the Free State Corvette Club. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018, 12 Noon, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 7538 Main Street, Sykesville, Maryland with his pastor, Rev. Bruce Miller, officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg are assisting with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
