Betty Baker Obituary

BETTY ANN BAKER, nee Allender, was reunited with her husband, the love of her life, on January 16, 2018. Dick and Betty lived the fairytale for 64 years. They bore six children Debbie Ann, Diana Joyce, Donna Jean and Dawn Lynn, two of which predeceased them – Richard Earl II and Denise Louise. Six wonderful grandchildren – Leigh Ann, Richard Joseph, Emma Leigh, Phillip Joseph III, Kayla Marie and Grace Ann, and 2 exceptional great grandchildren Daisy Leigh and Devin Joseph BETTY WAS THE BEST MOM IN THE WORLD. Motherhood does not stop with diapers and laundry. She packed our lunches every day (50 weeks a year x 6 lunches x 22 years) with a slice of homemade cake that all of our friends wanted and homemade dinners every night. Through their actions they taught us how to love, be kind and to respect others. Mom taught us her recipes and tricks. Five girls and one boy in a small house with one bathroom. We were happy. Mom and Dad were active members of the Baltimore Colts Corral #21 for many years. This was a family oriented organization full of fun loving adults and their children. There was always something fun going on: picnics, parties, bull roasts, crab feasts. Those were the days. Alzheimer’s is a loveless disease. It took its toll on mom over many years. Even so, in mom’s house laughter was 70% across the board. Leigh and her children moved in with mom after dad died. They lovingly cared for mom until the day she died. Mom still played with her great grandchildren even though her brain was being ravaged by this merciless illness. Leigh managed to keep laughter in that house every day. And mom always laughed with her. Services and interment will be private. Online condolences welcomed at www.jnzumbrunfuneralhome.com. If you wish, donations in mom’s name to Alzheimers Association, 1850 York Road, Ste. D, Timonium, MD 21093.
