Virginia C. (Crawford) Johnson

Virginia C. Johnson, age 90, of Sykesville, Maryland died Monday May 16, 2016, at Ridge Overlook Assisted Living Facility. Born in Oriskany, Virginia, August 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Crawford and Nannie Davis Crawford of Fayetteville, West Virginia. She was the wife of late Harry J. Johnson, for 63 years. She retired from Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville, Maryland in July 1983. She was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church in Eldersburg, Maryland. Surviving are sons and their wives; Delbert and Bonnie Johnson, of Westminster, Maryland, Harry and DeAnn Johnson, and David and Thelma Johnson, both of Sykesville, Maryland, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Thompson of Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Kathleen Crawford, Evelyn Underwood, Lorena Boom, Sammie Smith, Selma Fortner and two brothers Odell Crawford, and Carl Crawford. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:00AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. William Brown, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
