Robert Matthews ‘Bud’ Larrimore, Jr., 98, of Westminster, formerly of Sykesville, died Monday, May 29, 2017 at Carroll Lutheran Village. Born May 14, 1919 In Baltimore, he was the son of the late Robert M. Larrimore, Sr. and Ada Rogers Larrimore. He was the husband of the late Rita Marie Larrimore (nee Bland) who died on July 14, 2011. They had been married for 68 years. Bud was a research engineer with ARMCO Steel for 37 years. He initially went to work for Rustless Iron and Steel in 1941. In 1943 he transferred from the chem lab to the research lab where he worked as a research laboratory machine shop manager. While in the research lab he was credited with several patents dealing with stainless steel. He was a member of Freedom Masonic Lodge #112 AF & AM for over 50 years. During his retirement he enjoyed boating and crabbing. He had built his own 16 foot boat in his basement from a kit he had purchased through the mail. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Robert M., III and Karen. He is also survived by grandchildren Wendy and husband Wael Alzawahra, Michelle and husband Eric Voegtle, Laura and husband Michael Panzer, Robert, IV and wife Amanda, Brian Larrimore and wife Lindsay, Kathy and husband Bryant Doss and great grandchildren Katerina and Hayden Voegtle, MaKayla, Samantha and Alexandra Panzer, Elizabeth Alzawahra and Robert M. Larrimore, V. He was preceded in death by son Craig B. Larrimore, daughter Joyce Anne Weller, sisters Lucille St. Clair Phipps, Shirley Luray Robinson and brother Benjamin Dawson Larrimore. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 4, 2:00 PM at the Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Lukes Circle, Westminster, MD 21158 with Rev. Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Internment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Krug Chapel. The Freedom Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service before the start of the funeral service. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784 are handling the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers sympathies may be expressed in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
