Jon Larry Woodford, 72, of Sykesville, died unexpectedly Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Brinton Woods Nursing Home.
Born August 4, 1940 in Philippy, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Dr. James and Frankie Long Woodford. He was the husband of Karen M. Woodford. They would have been married for 50 years on June 8, 2013.
He had retired after 30 years of service for the Anne Arundel Board of Education as a instrumental and music teacher. He was a member and musician of Freedom Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. &A.M., Belvedere R.A. Chapter # 39, Carroll Council #7 R.& S.M., Bonnie Blink Daylight Lodge #1 and The Carroll Commandery #17 Knights Templar. He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters Julia Maggitti, Rebecca Smith and husband J., brother Joseph Woodford, grandchildren Dale and Rose Dubourg, Alex Maggitti, Matthew, Caroline and Patrick Smith and great granddaughter Savannah Szarvas.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD where a Masonic Memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Internment will be in Wesley Freedom Cemetery.
